Camping Triumphs

I am sitting, typing, on a stool outside our tent enjoying the very best thing about camping; the first sip of tea in the morning, in the fresh air.

Indeed, it is the only good thing about camping, because everything up to this point and everything after, is rubbish.

Up until that first sip of tea in the great outdoors and from the moment it is over, the best I can hope for is a small sense of triumph; if I managed to put any food with a vitamin or mineral into someone, if I slept for a few short minutes, if one person has brushed their teeth, combed their hair, one washed their hands (it doesn’t have to be the same person) and if we leave the campsite at all on any one day to see a local attraction even if we miss the ferry, have MacDonald’s for lunch at 3pm or in one case never actually got to the beach. These are the triumphs of camping.
